NATXO: FROM CYCLING ACROSS AMERICA TO THE IDITAROD DREAM

Meet Natxo, the newest ultracyclist in our Gsport Community.
Ultradistance isn’t just ridden with the legs—it’s ridden with the mind, and Natxo knows this better than anyone. He joins our community to share the wildest and most extreme ultradistance experiences. Of Argentine roots, born in Venezuela, and raised in Spain, he is an adventurous ultracyclist with a passion for pushing boundaries.
Looking back at his recent years as a cyclist, one highlight was his 2017 adventure across the Americas with his friend Simón—a project sadly interrupted by the pandemic. By 2020, he settled in Ecuador, where his passion for gravel cycling was born, until returning to Spain in 2023 to continue his career. In 2025, Natxo becomes part of the #gsportcommunity, bringing us a wealth of experiences on two wheels.
How did your interest in cycling begin?
“My older brother was my inspiration. My passion for the sport grew over time and really solidified in Ecuador during the pandemic, when I started competing in ultradistance cycling.”
What has ultracycling taught you?
“Ultracycling has taught me to know and surpass the limits of my body and mind. To balance personal life, work, and training, I organise my days with discipline, starting training at 5:30 a.m. Discipline is the key in this sport. I prepare physically with specific workouts and mentally with solo challenges, early mornings, and long rides without music.”
Which project are you most proud of?
“I have a special memory of my journey through the Peruvian Amazon, documented in La tierra de los Shirampari. But the challenges ahead excite me even more. I am currently working on the ‘Road to Iditarod’ project, aiming to complete the 1,600 km of the legendary Alaskan winter race in 2029.”
What advice would you give to someone wanting to enter ultradistance cycling?
“When asked for advice, I don’t like to focus only on training or physical preparation. I encourage reflection on the purpose of each ride. Are you aiming to enjoy the journey, or to compete for a place in the rankings? The answer shapes the experience. Either way, the important thing is to start, go with the flow, and dare to ride beyond your limits.”
Beyond challenges and goals, what sets Natxo apart is his philosophy: seeing the bicycle not just as a means of transport or a racing tool, but as a bridge to self-discovery, resilience, and connection with nature. Every pedal stroke is a way to explore new landscapes, different cultures, and, above all, uncharted corners of himself. This is what inspires us.
Natxo is a reminder that adventure begins long before the starting line. It starts every dawn, when he adjusts his bike, challenges himself to ride without music, and learns to live with fatigue and solitude. It continues in every story he brings back—from the Amazon to the frozen paths of Alaska.
Welcome to the family, Natxo!
