UNITED TO SUPPORT VALENCIANS AFFECTED BY THE DANA
La força de tot un poble. The strength of an entire community. With this slogan, we came together to help those affected by this catastrophe.
As many of you know, Gsport’s factory and facilities are located in the town of Xàtiva, just 20 km away from several of the towns impacted by the Dana. This proximity means that some of our colleagues, family members, friends, and acquaintances have been directly affected by this environmental disaster. After what happened, we couldn’t just stand by... That’s how the idea of launching a solidarity jersey to raise funds and help those in need was born.
Our design team came up with several proposals, one of which was a jersey inspired by the work of Juan Genovés Candel, a Valencian painter. His artwork guided us in representing the efforts of all the volunteers who gave their all, fully committed to the cause, trying to alleviate the suffering of those affected.
At first, we decided to release a limited edition of 100 jerseys, with 100% of the proceeds being donated. However, the initial pre-sale sold out in just 4 hours. Many people continued to reach out, wanting to contribute and join the cause, so we decided to launch a second pre-sale. This time, all the profits from the jersey would go towards helping families in need.
LA FORÇA DE TOT UN POBLE.
Since we are experiencing this situation firsthand (due to our geographic proximity and our directly affected colleagues), we understand that needs evolve over time. For this reason, we’ve decided to act based on the emerging needs of the community. Additionally, we’ve committed to taking direct action. Our marketing team will personally decide how to provide support and execute these efforts on-site. We are dedicated to ensuring that the donations from our community go directly to those who need them most.
THE FIRST ACTION: DEHUMIDIFIERS.
Nine days after the disaster, as we began to distribute the initial funds raised, many families already had water pumps and pressure washers (as these were the first tools needed to remove water and mud). Therefore, we reached out to our affected acquaintances to identify the next most urgent need. After hearing many of their stories, it became clear that everyone needed to remove the excess humidity from their homes and workplaces. Health authorities had warned about the dangers of mold growth on walls, ceilings, and furniture, posing serious health risks.
As a result, we took immediate action, purchasing industrial dehumidifiers and distributing them among the affected community. Families were encouraged to pass the dehumidifiers along to others, creating a chain that would help as many people as possible. Our marketing team personally delivered the first dehumidifiers to families in Paiporta, Benetúser, Picanya, Guadassuar, and Algemesí, initiating the chain of support.
Through this article, we will continue to update you on all the measures we take. This post will be updated periodically so that everyone can see the impact of the help we are achieving together through your solidarity.
