MANTECÓN XCM SPANISH CHAMPION
This past weekend SCOTT CALABANDIDA travelled to Ramales de la Victoria to compete in the Spanish XCM Championship, with Mantecón winning.
The best riders on the national scene gathered this past weekend in Ramales de la Victoria to compete in the Spanish XCM Championship, with Francesc Guerra, Sergio Mantecón and José María Sánchez representing SCOTT CALABANDIDA.
The race started on Sunday at nine o'clock in the morning and had a distance of 65 kilometres and an accumulated positive difference in altitude of 2,500 metres. It was a pure MTB style race.
Our SCOTT CALABANDIDA riders Sergio Mantecón and Francesc Guerra led the race, but in the decisive part of the race it was Mantecón and Bou who were going to fight for the Spanish champion's jersey. Mantecón finally pulled on his experience and went one more gear in the final stretch of the race to cross the finish line as Spanish champion with a time of 3h 31 minutes and 7 seconds.
This victory is proof of Mantecón's great form and is a great motivation ahead of the World Championships on 17 September in Haderslev, Denmark.
Sergio Mantecón:
"It's an important goal for us and we controlled the race at all times and in the end I was able to finish it off. The important thing is that the jersey stays at home. Being Spanish champions was one of our objectives and we have achieved it".
Next race: XCM World Championship on September 17, 2022 in Haderslev, Denmark.
