SCOTT CALA BANDIDA comienzUnbeatable start of the season for the team SCOTT CALA BANDIDA, their time in the Costa Blanca Bike Race ends with a third place by Francesc Guerra, crowning himself as the best Spaniard of the race.
SCOTT CALA BANDIDA starts the season in style. This thanks to achieving a first podium in the Costa Blanca Bike Race, this race was the first UCI rest of the 2022 season which took place in Calpe(Alicante) from 27th until 30th January. In this first race the four bandits where able to put themselves to the test as a team, setting the beginning of a new promising year.
This race had four very different stages and the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA team was very present in each one of them during the race. All this made it possible for Fransesc Guerra to win the 3rd place and get into the TOP 5 in each one of the different stages: “I am really happy to start the season with a performance like this and to get in the podium of a race that has always showed such a high level. I knew I was a little short of preparation due to the unusual short pre-season that we had this year, but among this obstacles I have confidence and I’ll keep working looking forward to new goals.”
Another team component is Sergio Mantecón, during the race he was rising all along, he got into the TOP 10 on the general leaderboard and later on he got top 5 on the last stage: “I am really proud about achieving this goal, mostly because the new project keeps going on and on, it has been quite a journey full of months of hard work but now they are being rewarded. The acceptance by the public, they have been showing lots of love and support towards us, we felt that and it helped us through out the race. The season has started in a great way with the third place by Francesc in this race with such a high level. Personally I thought I would’ve been in a better shape, and in this class of race where there is almost no room for errors everything counts and my role as the manager of this team made it kind off hard to prepare for this race. But the season is not just only one race, its long, from now on I am going to focuse more on my preparation as a racer.”
José María Sánchez made a great start to his career, showing a really good physical preparation, but some unexpected falls disturbed his classification in the general leaderboard.
At the same time, Marcos García couldn’t find the best feelings, this made him leave the race in the last day.
After this great start, the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA has a new challenge: the Mediterranean Epic, from 10th to 13th February.
