JEFFERSON CEPEDA WITH THE GREATS OF THE TOUR AT O GRAN CAMIÑO
Ecuadorian Jefferson Cepeda was the spearhead of the green squad in O Gran Camiño.
In this new edition of O Gran Camiño, marked by the heavy rain that the cyclists had to endure, the Ecuadorian Jefferson Cepeda of Caja Rural-Seguros RGA, managed to get into the big ones and finish the lap just 3 seconds from the podium, demonstrating his good level at the beginning of the season.
During the second stage came the best result, where he went head to head with 3 riders, 2 of which have been winners of the Tour de France (Jonas Vingegaard and Egan Bernal). A real feat that Cepeda did to manage to stay with them until the final part of the stage where Vingegaard dynamited the group with a hard attack.
Jefferson Cepeda gave us these statements: "I really wanted to show all the preparation I have done at home. The team has been with me all day protecting me and taking care of me from the wind so that I didn't lack anything and I wanted to do well for them too. On the final climb it's true that I stayed with two Tour winners, but at that moment I was only thinking about fighting for the victory. In the end I got a good third pass and for now we've taken a few important seconds to finish this race in the best way".
Uruguayan Thomas Silva also played a leading role with several places of honor, thus prolonging his good start to the season. As a result of his hard work, he finished in the top fifteen overall (14th).
In this O Gran Camiño Tour, the combativeness of the team was always present with performance in several breakaways by Sebastian Berwick and Jokin Murguialday.
Due to the inclement weather, the riders decided to use their Aquazero clothing, which is water repellent and water resistant.
Great four-day race by our runners, especially Jefferson Cepeda.
Congratulations!
