GSPORT DRESSES UP THE LEADERS OF TE 1ST FEMALE VUELTA A ANDALUCIA
The past 3, 4 and 5 of May, took place the first edition of the Woman’s Vuelta a Andalucia, also known as "Ruta del Sol Élite Women.”, where the Movistar Team succeded.
The female Ruta del Sol had a group of 82 cyclists that separated in 17 teams, which represented 29 different countries. A challenge that didn’t disappoint. Its 350 km divided in 3 challenge, its beautiful landscapes, its tough mountain passes and its people, made this first edition a reference. The province of Malaga, Cadiz and Granada were the ones in charge of taking us in during this three days of pure female cycling.
In Gsport, as we are used to in the male version of this big event, we were in charge of dressing up the leaders of the Ruta del Sol Élite Women.. The design of the jerseys, follows the same philosophy of the Vuelta of Andalucia, it has as its inspiration the nasrid art, highlighting the tile. Typical artistic tradition that comes from the south that contributes a visual heritage to the history of Andalusia.
The first stage, started at Salobreña (Granada) and ended at Arena (Malaga), with 105’5 km and with two evaluable mountain passes. The stage was won by the cyclist from the Movistar Team, Arlenis Sierra who with this win got the leader jersey, followed by Mavi García (UAE Team ADQ) and Ricarda Bauernfeind (Canyon Sram).
The second stage started at Malaga and finished in Mijas, with 118 km and with two evaluable mountain passes. The victory was once again for Arlenis Sierra and the ones completing the podium were Ricarda Bauernfeind in second spot and Mavi García with the third spot.
The third and last stage had its start at Fuengirola with a challenge that took 139 km to be completed and that once again had two scorable. Jelena Eric (Movistar Team) was the winner of this stage, Arlenis Sierra was the second one and Ricarda Bauernfeind was the third. This result served Arlenis to proclaim herself the winner in the general leaderboard, followed by Mavi Garcia who was 0:04s behind and Ricarda Bauernfeind who was 0:15s behind.
