THE NASRID ART ONCE AGAIN INSPIRES THE EQUIPMENT OF THE RUTA DEL SOL 2021

EL ARTE NAZARÍ INSPIRA LA Vuelta Ciclista a Andalucía

The 67th edition of the Vuelta Ciclista a Andalucia, and first marked by the pandemic, it started in May because it wasn’t possible to be celebrated in its normal dates, February, because of the pandemic.

This is the second year that GSport will be in charge of making the clothing equipment for the race, an emotional and beautiful challenge for the whole GSport team. A project that we are trying to give its own identity, since the last edition, linking it with the nasrid art. An artistic expression, typically from the south, that constituted the last stage of the Hispano-Muslim art and that is characterized by its geometrical and vegetables engravings.

Two have been the ornamental reasons that have been used for the designs of the Ruta del Sol 2021:

  • The Tartessian star: Also known as eight cornered stars, a symbol that appears continuously in the Andalucia culture and which origin comes from the tartessian religion and its mythology that looks up to admiring the sun as a god that’s why it has 8 corners as if they were rays.
  • The branches of the olive tree: Paying homage to the landscapes of the olive grove of Andalusia. The beginning of the expansion of this cultivation started more than 2.000 years ago, when the Roman Empire ruled the world. The Romans already knew and appreciated the excellent quality of olive oil from the area, this is why thousands of olive trees were planted, and more than the ones already existed until now.
