BARTOLING SOLIDARIO AGAINST CANCER

Bartoling Solidario is a heartwarming initiative led by a group of friends in Castellón. The cycling crew GambaDiLegno set out to raise funds in the fight against cancer with a demanding challenge: 287 km + 8,898 m of climbing.

The GambaDiLegno team came up with the idea of a “Bartoling”—an Everesting on the Bartolo climb (Desierto de las Palmas, Castellón). Originally conceived as part of their training for the ultradistance event Basajaun, what started as a physical and mental challenge between two friends quickly evolved into a charitable initiative full of emotion, effort, and collective support.

The idea began modestly, quietly shared on social media and a podcast, with little initial response. However, five days before the event, Marcos suggested giving it a charitable focus in support of cancer research. Although initially seen as a crazy idea due to the short timeframe, the group’s enthusiasm reignited. They launched a campaign under the slogan “€10 per Bartolo”. With the help of friends, a promotional image was designed using AI, the Castellón Cancer Association was contacted, and a fundraising campaign began—quickly surpassing €700.

More than a ride: the power of cycling together.

On the day of Bartoling, the physical effort was colossal, but what truly made the difference was the support from people who joined in with gestures of encouragement, cheers, and donations. Friends appeared during the day and others at night, creating a constant presence of positive energy that pushed the team forward, even in moments of extreme exhaustion.

Bartoling concluded at 3:00 PM on Saturday, amidst tears, hugs, and a mix of fatigue and happiness. The challenge was celebrated as a success, raising over €1,200 for those affected by cancer.

Beyond sport, Bartoling became a demonstration of solidarity, camaraderie, and resilience—a tribute to the body, willpower, and, above all, the importance of helping others.
