PARRES, CYCLIST'S PARADISE.
The Municipality of Parres turns its capital, Arriondas, into an Active Tourism destination where cycling takes center stage. Parres, cyclist's paradise, consists of a project composed of 8 cycling routes, varying in difficulty with some circular itineraries. A great attraction to explore Asturias by bike through a multitude of paths, tracks, and secondary roads.
Moreover, in Arriondas, you'll find all the complementary services available to enjoy cycling, along with the wonderful gastronomy of the entire municipality.
THE UPPER RIVERBANK, THE HEART OF ASTURIAS..
We discover this beautiful municipality of La Ribera / Ribera de Arriba, located in the heart of Asturias. Part of the cycling ring of the Central Mountain, Silver Route, and Camino de Santiago, it's a true epicenter of cycling routes in the Principality. The recreational area of Llosalín, the paths along the Nalón River, and the Interpretation Center of Bueño are some of the diverse cultural and leisure possibilities that La Ribera / Ribera de Arriba offers.
GAMONITEIRO, NEW PORT OF THE TOUR OF SPAIN 2021.
Gamoniteiro is the highest peak in the Sierra del Aramo, located in the geographic center of Asturias. At 1,791 meters, it stands out among the other highest peaks in the area, such as Barriscal and Gamonal. One of the notable features of this mountain range is its karstic formations and its aquifer, formed by the massive limestone rock. We find ourselves in front of a majestic and, to some extent, solitary landscape. Despite its proximity to populated areas, it lacks physical elements that have altered the natural landscape of the area.
This 2021, this great Asturian mountain pass debuts in the Vuelta a España. With 15 kilometers at nearly a 10% gradient, it will be ascended on September 2nd in the decisive 18th stage. Its first part coincides with another classic ascent, La Cobertoria. After nine intense kilometers, the route diverges towards the summit of Gamoniteiro. The challenge of this mountain pass lies in its constant incline, a tough ascent that is rewarded by the marvelous sight that awaits at the top. It's the quintessential magic of the Asturian landscape.
