GSPORT ventures into Portugal with the Sabgal Anicolor Cycling Team!

The Sabgal Anicolor Cycling Team, one of the nine teams in the Portuguese peloton with UCI Continental status, joins the Gsport family. 

We are thrilled to announce our expansion into Portugal alongside the Sabgal Anicolor team. On January 29th, we had the opportunity to attend the team presentation in Águeda, Portugal.

"For Gsport, dressing the Portuguese team is a challenge. With Portugal, we are now present in 4 countries this year, where we will try to lay a solid foundation for the brand's international expansion," explains Aitor Meléndez, CEO of Gsport. 

Rúben Pereira, sports director of the Sabgal Anicolor cycling team, shares with us the team's objectives for 2024:

"As for the calendar ahead, it's a very well-structured team, where everyone knows their role. The spirit is always to race to win. In this new season, we'll have 120 race days and we'll divide the team six times throughout the year, which will involve a lot of logistics. We want to make this Portuguese team, Sabgal Anicolor, known internationally."

The Tour of Portugal has been one of their greatest achievements, winning the overall classification several times with Spanish and Portuguese riders. It's the most important stage cycling race in Portugal and will take place in mid-August. They call it La Grandíssima, and in 2024, we'll be more present than ever, alongside the riders and all the technical staff of Sabgal Anicolor.

In addition to being part of the UCI Continental category, the team also has a good pool of young cyclists. An academy where they are trained and coached to reach elite cycling and, in many cases, to move up to the first team. Currently, there are 30 children practicing various cycling disciplines, including mountain and road cycling. This initiative is now in its third season.

To face this intense year of racing, the team will wear in their official kit: a jersey developed exclusively for the team and the Aero model of bib shorts, a garment available in our GSPORT CUSTOM cycling apparel section.
