FIRST RACE WITH A PODIUM FOR THE SCOTT-CALABANDIDA TEAM.

A fantastic start to the season for the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA team as their journey through the Costa Blanca Bike Race ends with a third place finish by Francesc Guerra, crowning him as the best Spaniard in the race.

SCOTT CALA BANDIDA kicks off the season in style. Their first race, the Costa Blanca Bike Race, resulted in their first podium finish, in the first UCI event of the 2022 calendar held in Calpe (Alicante) from January 27th to 30th. In this inaugural stop, the four bandits were able to test themselves as a team, marking the beginning of a promising year.

The race featured four very different stages, and the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA team was consistently present throughout, securing third place overall with Francesc Guerra, who managed to finish all stages within the top 5: "I'm very happy to start the season with a strong performance and to step onto the podium in a race that has always shown great level. I knew I was a bit short on preparation after a shorter than usual pre-season, but overall, I'm confident in continuing to work towards the next objectives."

Another member of the team, Sergio Mantecón, showed improvement throughout the race, entering the top 10 in the general classification and achieving a well-deserved fifth place in the final stage: "I'm very proud that the new project has finally started rolling; it's been months of hard work, but in the end, it's paying off. The reception from the public has been overwhelming, making us feel very loved and supported at all times. The season has started off very well, with Francesc's great third place in a highly competitive race. Personally, I was hoping to be in better shape, but in high-performance sports, everything counts, and the work as a manager to move the project forward has naturally affected my preparation. But the season is long, and from now on, I'll be able to focus more on my role as a rider."

José Mari Sánchez made a strong start to the race, demonstrating good form, but several unforeseen incidents in the form of falls hampered his fight for the overall classification.

At the same time, Marcos García couldn't find his best feelings, so he was forced to abandon the race on the last day.

Following this race start, the SCOTT CALA BANDIDA team faces a new challenge ahead: the Mediterranean Epic, from February 10th to 13th.
